Create online exams for FREE – Test takers need not register

Now users can register for FREE,  create on-line exams at SkillRack and share their exams in any blog or website. No registration is required to take the exam.

  • Exams can contain one or more questions of type multiple choice, comprehension and data sufficiency.
  • Questions can be categorized using tags, assigned difficulty level (aka weightage )
  • Tags are of two types – score tags (like Java, JPA to measure strength and weakness) or non score tags (like “Questions in July 2010″, merely to identify a group of questions).
  • One more level called sub-tag can be assigned to a question (For example Exception Handling can be a sub tag for a tag Java)
  • Attachments like images, files are allowed and can be embedded within the question description using a rich text editor.
  • Exam delivery survives power and network failure. The exam state is restored anywhere from 0 to 1 minutes and hence the options marked as answers, questions marked to be answered later etc are restored.
  • Users can navigate in any order between questions, mark them to answer later, mark the questions as answered, check for unanswered questions
  • A button to clear answer in radio button is provided which comes handy in dealing with negative marking exams (if the test taker has selected an option by mistake, he/she may want to clear the option)
  • Code syntax highlighting in the question description for various programming languages.

More Features:

  • Configure section wise cutoff (pass score)
  • Configure negative marking.
  • Choose to shuffle questions in an exam.

No registration required to take test:

Users need not register to take the exam. Just click on the button to begin exam. Please click this link for a demo.

Questions in an exam can be randomly picked or a fixed set:

When creating an exam, the exam author can choose if the questions in the exam should be randomly picked from a question pool (question bank) or should be a fixed set. (Please look at the below screen-shot)

Select questions to be fixed set or randomly chosen

The below screen-shot shows how the author can configure options related to the randomly picked questions. The author can specify the count of questions in each tag / sub-tag combination. To include comprehension questions, mark the “Only Comprehension” check box. To add one more difficulty (weightage) level for a given tag, please click on the “Add weightage level” button.

Randomly picked questions

If the author had chosen “Fixed set of questions”, he/she can later search questions associated to selected tags / sub-tags combination and associated the desired questions to the exam. The below screen-shot shows 2 such Fixed type exams and we can see the options to add or exclude questions.  The author can also view the scores of the (anonymous) test takers. You may embed the exam badge HTML code in any blog or website or create a badge on your own.

Manage Fixed Questions Exam

Once the exam is completed, the score report is shown to the user and the user can optionally choose to “Like your exam”. The “Like Count” will be displayed in the summary page of the exam as in the screen-shot below.

Exam Summary Page

The below screen-shot shows the page to create/edit a question. To edit a question, search by tag/ sub-tag combination and click the edit button. You can toggle between normal and full screen mode to enter question description.
